The bulk carrier Ince Inebolu ran aground in a rocky bottom in Aegean Sea. The accident happened during of a few miles off the Greek island Astypalaia during a voyage under ballast from Yemen to Russia.
The weather in the vicinity was good and the sea was calm, but the duty officer mistake caused hitting the rock.
The bulk carrier Ince Inebolu suffered sufficient damages under the water line and small water ingress.
After the fast reaction of the crew, the situation went under control and there was no danger of capsizing and sinking. The water was pumped out and the hole was patched. The local authorities dispatched a patrol boat as the scene of the accident to held inspection of the vessel. There is no water pollution and no injured people from the 22 crew members.

The deadweight of the vessel is 52,376 DWT and the gross tonnage is 30,011 GRT. The vessel is operating by the flag of Turkey and managed by the company Ince Denizcilik. The bulker Ince Inebolu was built in 2002 by Tsuneishi Heavy Industries in their shipyard in Balamban, Philippines.
