Within a few minutes the Norwegian 65-ft-fishing vessel "Bjerka" (MMSI-No.: 257419500) sank in the port of Andenes after having been hit by the "Feed Tromso" on Mar 8, 2011.
The vessel was moored at the quay and had, due to storm, not been at sea for quite some days. The collision caused a big hole in the starboard side hull. The rescue boat "Dagfinn Paust" was quickly on scene and delivered three three bilge pumps, but to no avail.
The "Bjerka" sank in a few minutes.
The "Feed Tromso" was about to turn in the harbor after unloading when it ran into trouble while maneuvering and hit the "Bjerka" with the bulb.
Luckily there was no crew on board the "Bjerka".
The police routinely drug-tested the skipper of the "Feed Tromso" with negative result. He has stated that there were technical problems on the ship before the accident.
