Rome-based Eni Trading & Shipping (ETS) has signed up with British marine services company, Inchcape Shipping Services, for a major new global hub agency contract. The global agreement will see ISS undertake hub agency services for Eni involving some 4,500 port calls annually across the world. ISS has been the hub agent for ETS international port calls since 2007 and this new agreement encompasses ETS’ domestic Italian, as
well its international port calls.
Eni is a major integrated energy company, committed to growth in the activities of finding, producing, transporting, transforming and marketing oil and gas. Eni recently announced the integration of its entire commodity trading activities into one company, Eni Trading and Shipping.
The agreement will involve ISS working with local port agents handling ETS’ chartered tankers to ensure their safe and efficient turnaround in port. ISS will oversee the whole port call process through to completion of the disbursement account. This will include monitoring the performance of local port agents through established Key Performance Indicators and seeking continuous improvements and innovative ideas to reduce costs.
The delivery of the hub agency services will be managed through ISS-Tositti, ISS’ joint venture in Venice, which has provided hub services to Eni since 2007. Commenting on the award of the contract, Capt. Claus Hyldager, ISS Group Chief Executive, said: “The benefits provided by our ability to collect and analyse data benchmarking performance is transcending the traditional principal/agent relationship, migrating it to a strategic partnership through which we will work together to meet ETS’ strategic goals and objectives.”
