GENEVA's Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has denied rumours flooding the market that it is planning new services between Asia and Europe including Mediterranean ports.
Speculation about additional MSC strings has unsettled the market where freight rates are under pressure. "There are no plans to add any new strings," said an MSC spokesman.
Although MSC has a large number of newbuildings expected in 2011, they will serve on existing services, with displaced older ships being assigned to other parts of the world.
