China's Zhonggu Shipping gains financing for two newbuildings, 2,850 TEU

SHANGHAI's Zhonggu Shipping, top domestic container operator in 2013, has secured financing from Shanghai Guojin Leasing on the purchase of two 2,850 TEU containerships following loans for a further six 2,850 TEU containerships from other banks.

The vessels will be built at Zhoushan Wuzhou Shipbuilding and scheduled for delivery 2015 at an undisclosed loan value. 

In September 2013, the domestic shipping line ordered 10 2,850-TEU eco-friendly containerships from Zhoushan Wuzhou Shipbuilding. 

Zhonggu Shipping operates a fleet of about 50 vessels of which some are self-owned and the rest of the vessels are on short-term chartering contracts.
