"Octbreeze Island" collided with "Ghetty Bottiglieri" on Rio Paraná
On Dec 13, 2014, at 5.40 p.m. the bulkcarrier was in collision with the at km 285 on the Paraná River off San Pedro.
The "Octbreeze Island" suffered a breach of 5-6 meters length in the port side. The hull was torn open in the fuel tanks area, causing some fuel leakage.
Both vessels were anchored near the collision site, the bulk carrier developed a starboard list.
400 meters oil booms were laid out by the taksed company Cintra . The tugs "Cazador" and "Corsario" attended.
The bow of the "Ghetty Bottiglieri" was shattered. The Coast Guard regulated ship navigation following the incident, which left a large oil slick which was partially contained about 500 meters downstream of the collision site.
The "Octbreeze Island" was sailing down the river, en route to Nueva Palmira.
The "Ghetty Bottiglieri" was proceeding up the river to San Lorenzo, Santa Fe. At the time of the accident a storm was raging in the area.
