MAERSK Line has unveiled plans to hike ocean freight rates from Asia to a destinations in Caribbean and Latin America from December 15.
From the Far East to Mexico, Central America and the west coast of South America, rates will be increased by US$600 per TEU and $1,200 per FEU and 45-foot high-cube.
To the Caribbean (except for Cuba), the rate hikes are $560 per TEU and $800 per FEU and 45-foot high-cube. To Cuba, the increases are $410/TEU, $586/FEU, and for 45-foot high-cube containers.
From the Far East to southern Africa and the Indian Ocean islands, increases are $150/TEU and $1,200/FEU and 40-foot high-cube.
The carrier is also planning to assess a peak season surcharge from the Far East to Europe from December 26. The surcharge is $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
